These patterns were inspired by Oceanic and African textiles. For the Octagon Gallery, The Slade 150th Anniversary Exhibition, I made use of UCL's ethnographic collections and created digital drawings based off of the ancient artefacts here. I wanted the juxtaposition of archaic artefacts and modern day digital drawings to make the viewer think about the history of pattern making, and how these so called 'primitive' artworks are not so different from today's contemporary art.
